This photograph is of a cider mill in Cue -Llanes- rotting outdoors, and expresses the situation in which Asturian material cider heritage is located.
LA SIDRA.- From LA SIDRA we have always denounced how much of our cider material heritage ended up outside Asturies – the Basque Country mainly -, where not only the origin of it is concealed, but it was passed off as something of their own. However, seeing examples like the one that appears in the photograph – taken this weekend – of an unarmed and left stranded in Cue -Llanes – it’s almost worthwhile to continue taking them to the outside of the country.
The main responsibility of the state in which this material heritage of the Asturian culture of cider is of the “Principality”, which although legislated that the cider mills and implements that are their own are cultural heritage and have measures to defend it. It is true that at the moment of truth he does not do anything, and allows, with as much disinterest as possible, our heritage be destroyed.
