The 12th Espicha Solidaria brings cider and solidarity together in Villaviciosa on 7 November. Tickets cost €40, including a €10 donation to Escuela de Vida.

LA SIDRA.— Llagar Cortina in Villaviciosa will host the 12th charity espicha against cancer this Saturday, 7 November, at 7.30 pm. With two days to go, this traditional Asturian cider gathering places the social role of cider events at the service of people with cancer and cancer survivors. Actor Javier Gutiérrez is this year’s ambassador.

The Sandra Ibarra Foundation and the Regulatory Council of the Sidra de Asturies Protected Designation of Origin organise the event. It combines the tradition of sharing cider with financial support for the foundation’s Escuela de Vida, or School of Life.

Tickets: €40, including a €10 donation

Each ticket costs €40. Of that amount, €10 is a direct donation to the Escuela de Vida project, as specified on the event poster. This is the charitable contribution included in every ticket.

Tickets can be purchased at the Regulatory Council’s headquarters, at Sidra Cortina and through Entradium. Reservations are also available by emailing administracion@sidradeasturias.es.

Supporting Escuela de Vida

Escuela de Vida is a digital community for people with cancer and cancer survivors. The project offers guidance, training and health information, alongside resources and support for those affected, their families and carers. By taking part in the espicha, attendees help sustain this work.

Javier Gutiérrez will succeed María Neira

One of the evening’s highlights will be the appointment of Javier Gutiérrez as Asturian Charity Cider Ambassador for 2026. Born in Lluanco, the two-time Goya Award winner adds his name to a distinction linked to promoting Asturian culture and roots.

Gutiérrez will succeed Dr María Neira, the 2025 ambassador. The initiative’s history also includes Antonio Lobato, honoured in 2023, among other figures who have taken part in this meeting of cider and solidarity.
