Cousins, Apploader and Witch’s Apple Cider received the three Czech Premium awards. A count of the official honours list gives 14 distinctions across eight producers: three Premium, two Silver and nine Bronze.
Czech cider showcased its diversity at the 16th SISGA, held in Xixón from 24 to 27 September. Its three Premium awards recognised entries in very different categories: alcohol-free cider, sweet naturally sparkling cider and flavoured dry still cider.
Cousins received the alcohol-free cider Premium award for Cousins Driver – Friendly. The producer also earned Bronze for Originál Suchý 2025 in the brut sparkling cider with added carbonation category. The photograph accompanying this article shows its certificates and the event’s trophy.
Apploader SRO earned Premium for Opilý jabko and Silver for Provoco Cider, both in the sweet naturally sparkling cider category. Witch’s Apple Cider received the third Czech Premium for Magic Guelder-Rose 2025 Semi-dry, classified in the official honours list as flavoured dry still cider. It also received two Bronze awards: Sweet Gold 2025, in semi-dry sparkling cider with added carbonation, and Cherry Elixir 2025 Dry, in flavoured cider with no carbonation type specified.
The second Czech Silver went to Červenka by Cidérka, in semi-dry naturally sparkling cider. Kvasírna Jara received two Bronzes, for Cidre Extra Brut 2020 in brut nature and Cidre Brut 2023 in brut, both naturally sparkling. Jablko by Cider Bohemia and Cidre Kliment Brut BIO 2017 by Cidrerie Kliment also received Bronze in the latter category. Náčelník Cider completed the tally with two more Bronzes, for Chmelený (Hopped) and 3Pepři (Peppered), in flavoured cider with no carbonation type specified.
Participation extended beyond the award winners. The official catalogue also included Jablko a květ bezu 2025 and Originál Polosuchý 2025 by Cousins; Cidre Kliment Demi Doux BIO 2018 and Demi Sec BIO 2018 by Cidrerie Kliment; and Bezva (Elder Flower), Hruškový (Perry) and Original by Náčelník Cider.
The Czech presence adds to our coverage of the most awarded producers and Madeira’s participation, broadening the picture of the international cider gathered in Xixón.
