LA SIDRA.- La Montera Picona de Ramón cider house will hold its 50th traditional cider-pouring workshop, marking an important milestone for a training programme launched more than four years ago to promote the techniques, knowledge and cultural values associated with Asturian cider. The event will take place on Thursday, 23 July, at the cider house on Calle Saavedra 3 in Xixón.

Registration is now open. The workshop costs €10 and will be led by Wilkin Aquiles, Laura Ovín and Alejandra Vanegas, three professionals with extensive experience in cider pouring and practical training. Because participants need space to practise and receive individual guidance, places are limited and will be allocated in registration order.

Advance registration

Anyone wishing to take part must book a place through:

Telephone or WhatsApp: +34 652 594 983
Email: adlasidra@gmail.com
Price: €10
Venue: Sidrería La Montera Picona de Ramón, Calle Saavedra 3, Xixón

Participants are advised not to leave registration until the last minute. The size of the group must remain limited so that everyone has enough time to practise and receive personalised advice.

The event is part of the regular cider-pouring workshop programme organised at La Montera Picona in collaboration with Fundación Asturies XXI and the LA SIDRA Club. It is suitable both for complete beginners and for people who want to correct mistakes, build confidence or improve their pouring technique.

The workshops offer three training levels: beginner, intermediate and advanced. Participants learn how to position the body, bottle and glass, control the stream of cider and pour an appropriate culín, the small serving traditionally poured into the glass. The sessions also introduce the history of cider pouring and the criteria used in professional competitions.

Previous editions have shown that no prior experience is required. The success of earlier workshops has helped introduce this practice to a wide range of participants, from hospitality professionals to people who simply want to learn how to serve a bottle of natural cider correctly.

The initiative has also included inclusive cider-pouring workshops and activities held outside the cider house, demonstrating that Asturian cider culture can be shared through accessible, practical and participatory experiences.

The 50th workshop is therefore an important milestone in La Montera Picona’s commitment to cider culture. The evening will also include a live performance by Jorge Menéndez from 8:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., bringing together training, cider and music in a single celebration.
