A family cider house with almost eighty years of history
Alfredo Ordóñez Onís founded the cider house in 1947 on the La Alameda estates in Nava. The name Viuda de Angelón was created as a tribute to his parents. His mother, Carmen, ran Casa Angelón, a well-known cider bar in the town, and Alfredo combined that memory with that of his late father to name the family’s first cider.
At the end of the 1970s, increased production led to the cider house being moved and expanded at La Teyera, where it remains today. The company also operates the Villa facilities, where it has produced different types of cider since 1967.
A diversified range
The range includes traditional natural ciders Viuda de Angelón and Prau Monga, covered by the DOP Sidra de Asturias designation. It also produces 1947 and 1947 Rosée table ciders, sparkling ciders such as Pomar and Ziber, brut nature, ice cider, cider with honey, Angelón Limón, organic products and Pomarsin alcohol-free cider.
The family’s orchards at Monga, Tresali and Los Riegos have been certified for organic farming since 2021. This combination of tradition, own production and diversification has made Viuda de Angelón one of the leading names in the Cider Shire.
