Nothing better than receiving the entrance of the summer with some of the most emblematic celebrations for the Asturians. Until the 25th will take place the emblematic celebrations of San Xuan del Camín in Mieres , an event full of traditions and cultural activities for all audiences. To detail what is taking place, Diana Lopez Antuña, Councilor for Tourism, Trade and Celebrations tells us how the celebration is unfolding. What activities are planned for this year?
We have great orchestras such as Paris de Noia, Aché or The Last Legion to put just a few examples, great performances like the Tribute to the 80s “The golden age of Spanish Pop” composed by great artists, or the concert of Efecto Pasillo. We also bet on musicians and artists from the region. The person in charge of the poster and a graffiti exhibition is the renowned artist “El Séptimo Crío” and we will also have concerts of Música na Cai or Mercurio Son, with local music groups, as well as activities dedicated to traditional Asturian culture and animation on the streets. We also give prominence to children’s programming, improving the successful foam party with two slides, one for children and the other 12 meters for everyone who is encouraged, we will enjoy the new Susana Show and the musical storyteller in charge of Puppys, among other appointments. Everything and for all tastes and ages.
And in terms of sports activities?
Well here we also have variety, tournaments organized by schools and clubs, the saddle horse contest, swimming trophy, the equestrian route “Trotando’l Caudal”, dance and dance festival, chess day, the sport gala…
What else would you say to people who have never been to Mieres to celebrate the festivities?
With all that said I think there is no excuse for not coming to enjoy the great festive atmosphere of San Xuan in Mieres, we have activities for all tastes, children, young people, older… full of opportunities to enjoy free of magnificent experiences that they will not be able to realize in another place, in an exceptional and charming environment as it is Mieres, so, I hope that they are encouraged to come and have a good time.
