Cider Cities to Present Its European Network at the First Canary Islands Cider Forum

The European initiative Cider Cities will take part this May 8 in the First Canary Islands Cider Forum, to be held at Casa del Vino de Tenerife as part of the Raíces Atlánticas project. The network will present its model of cooperation among territories linked to cider and apple culture.

LA SIDRA.- The presentation of Cider Cities is scheduled for 5:15 p.m. in the venue’s multifunctional hall under the title “Presentation of the CIDERCITIES Initiative: European Network of Cider and Apple Cities (RECS).” The event is part of a programme aimed at strengthening cider culture in the Canary Islands and promoting cooperation among producers, institutions and European cider-producing territories.

The First Canary Islands Cider Forum will begin with the reception of participants and the official opening ceremony, featuring representatives from the Government of the Canary Islands, the Cabildo of Tenerife and the Canary Islands Institute of Agri-Food Quality. Following the Cider Cities presentation, the First Canary Islands Cider Forum will be formally established as a permanent coordination and working platform for the Canarian cider sector.

Cider Cities’ participation marks another step forward in the international projection of cider-producing territories across the Atlantic Arc and other European regions, encouraging the exchange of experiences, the promotion of cider heritage and cultural and tourism cooperation centred around cider and apples.

The day will conclude with a guided tasting of Canarian ciders and a closing cocktail reception. The programme will continue on May 9 with the First Meeting of Macaronesian Cider Producers, featuring pairing workshops, cider mixology sessions, showcookings and gastronomic promotion activities.
