It will be held tomorrow at the Xixón’s Feria Muestres and it will be announced the awards for the best ciders attached to the Protected Designation of Origin
LA SIDRA.- The Fairground Luis Adaro de Xixón, place that hosts the Fair of Samples (Feria Muestres), welcomes Tuesday the tenth edition of the DOP Cider of Asturies. The central act, in which the official figures of the 2018 harvest of the Denomination of Origin will be announced, and the growth forecasts for this year, will be developed from 11:30 to 12:15. During the same will be delivered the prizes to the best producer, the best ciders in each modality -natural, filtered and natural foamy- and the prize to the ambassador of the PDO Sidra de Asturies 2019.
The event will be attended by representatives of llagares; the President of the Regulating Council of the PDO Sidra de Asturies, Celestino Cortina; the Minister of Rural Environment and Natural Resources, María Jesús Álvarez; authorities and representatives of the City Council of Xixón; as well as more staff of the local and regional administration.
In 2018, the Sidra de Asturies PDO increased its sales volume by 73% compared to the previous year, setting a new historical record. In 2019 positive growth is again expected. Those attending this tenth edition of the Salon will be able to taste the new ciders with protected designation of origin Sidra de Asturias belonging to 27 producers.
