Cider bar Casa de Asturias, a classic restaurant in Lavapies

Founded in 1999, it takes the council of Valdes to the traditional district in Madrid.

LA SIDRA.- The bustling neighbourhood of Lavapies, in Madrid, has a typical Asturian corner where to taste our delicious cuisine operating for nearly two decades.

Founded by two cousins and working partners from Luarca, Cider Bar Casa de Asturias is a restaurant with the 70’s classic decor of a traditional Asturian cider bar. It also has a terrace and private dining-room to celebrate all kind of events.

The menu offers a wide range of traditional dishes such as the potatoes in Cabrales cheese sauce, scorpionfish pudding, scrambled eggs with sea urchins or nettles, chorizos in cider sauce or mushrooms in Cabrales cheese sauce.

Also present are hotpot dishes such as the “fabada” (Asturian bean stew), beans with clams and the Asturian stew in winter.

Speaking of meat, coming from their own family livestock, we must mention the sirloin in Cabrales cheese sauce, steer rumpsteak and “cachopo” (two breaded fillet steaks stuffed with cured ham and cheese), which won the first prize as the “Best Presented” in the V Cachopo Sessions in Madrid held in March.

And for fish lovers, they offer hake in cider sauce or baked monkfish, their speciality.

Eventually, among the wide range of homemade desserts, pancakes stuffed with rice pudding are highly recommended.

All of this accompanied by Asturian cider Trabanco and Trabanco d’Escoyeta, poured in the traditional way.
