La Gran Aventura de David Santiso turns Avilés into a setting for mystery and humour, where drinking a culín can change the way the player perceives the world.
LA SIDRA.- Cider has many uses, but becoming a videogame mechanic is probably one of the most unexpected.
La Gran Aventura de David Santiso, available on Steam, is a graphic adventure set in Avilés that draws directly on genre classics such as Monkey Island, while bringing mystery and humour to instantly recognisable locations in the town.
Galiana, the Town Hall, the cemetery and the Niemeyer are part of a map whose visual style combines references to popular animation with satire and paranormal mysteries.

This is where cider comes in.
In the game, drinking a culín, a small serving of cider, works as a kind of sensory portal: the image changes and, for a time, the character can perceive elements and figures that do not appear in the ordinary world.
The adventure uses this mechanic to introduce deliberately absurd situations and characters associated with popular culture and the world of mystery.
The result is a recognisable vision of Avilés reinterpreted through humour.
Once again, cider ends up appearing where it is least expected.
Even in a videogame.
