Today, August 10, the most important cider festival in western Asturias is held in Navia.
LA SIDRA.- It will begin at noon with the cider bar songs for the cider bars of Navia, with the performance of the choir Villa de Navia, the choir El Liceo, Fran Pola and Odón del Paganéu and the group L’Atalaya.
In addition, and throughout the day, each cider bar offers a snack with a bottle of cider for € 10.
From 6:30 p.m. there will be the traditional cider tasting, which this year will be from the cider mills: Solleiro, Castañón, Trabanco, Roza, Foncueva, Vigón, Viuda de Angelón, Peñón, Viuda de Corsino, Vallina, and Zapatero. Likewise, there will also be Asturian products from the Abredo cheese factory and the renowned El Pintxu grill / barbeque. All this enlivened by the music of Tejedor and Los Gascones
The system will be the usual one to buy a commemorative glass of this XVIII Cider Festival to enjoy all the present cider, and this year a scarf that will bring color and Asturian to the event is included.
Between 21:30 and 23:45 two couples of bagpipe and drum of La Reina del Truébano will tour the cider bars of the town.
Also this year will be presented the Sidrero Passport 2018, with which to consume cider on 10, 11 and 12 in the participating cider bars: Boquete, Mesón El Cabo, Sidrería Antolin, Sidrería La Villa, El Chigrin del Puerto, La Magaya and Sidrería Cantábrico, the ciders may request that they seal it for once the seven stamps are in the draw for 300 euros and a special dinner menu, with a spa circuit for two at the Hotel Restaurante Blanco. The public auction will take place on Monday the 13th at 7:00 pm at El Liceo.
Anzu Fernández is the International Delegate of LA SIDRA and the Asturies XXI Foundation, apart of coordinator of the translations.
He is the ambassador of the Asturian cider at the main international cider fairs, and manager of the international delegations of the International Hall of Gala Ciders (IHGC).
