Nava will become the epicenter of the cider world from Thursday, July 10th to Sunday, July 13th, with the celebration of its now traditional Cider Festival, declared a Festival of National Tourist Interest in 1989.
LA SIDRA.- The program actually begins on Tuesday, July 8th at 6:00 p.m., when the Llagar de Sorribes will host the first pre-selection of the Competition for the Best Natural Cider Made in Asturias and Nava. This will mark the beginning of the testing process that will take the ciders that pass the pre-filters to the grand finale. This is a long and meticulous process in which the juries ensure the reputation for impartiality and rigor for which this competition is known, one of the oldest and most renowned of the many that evaluate Asturian ciders each year. Another preselection and a semi-final will still be necessary, which will also be held at the Llagar de Sorribes, before deciding which ciders will participate in the grand final on Saturday the 12th.
That same day, Tuesday, the Asturian Cider Museum will open its doors to the exhibition of the entries submitted to the Cider Festival Poster Competition. The winning work, by Jaume Gubiamas, is now displayed not only in the event’s advertising but also on the façade of the building overlooking Plaza Manuel Uría.
